interface :: train stories

-emphasize different combination possibilities in the presentation of the work

-AUTOMATE the process of data collection or STORAGE

-automated sorting system

in the case of the train stories, the javascript code behind the interface, involving the use of dictionaries, enabled different combination possibilities breaking the linearity of the story. this is precisely what must come to the forefront, what i am trying to emphasize in the presentation of the work, whether it is in an installation or browser based.

the trains stories, data i was working with, were 'sorted' (retrieved) by defining dictionaries. the next step would be to AUTOMATE the process of data collection or STORAGE. the current data is collected into an .rtf file, then transfered string by string to their corresponding arrays. the audio files are currently in a folder much in the same way, they need a form of automated sorting system.

ideas: [future]

• -interface w/ forms where the choices are words from the poem which correspond to choosing a path in the story...
• -train tickets w/ sensors equiped w/ mini sound devices playing audio of 'a' story when picked up...
• -installation w/ video on one screen, text on the other, user chooses path
• -handwritten text projected on windows of the train at night
• -'podcasts' of the audio (stories being read)

in this project i was inspired by deleuze's analysis of leibniz's infinite fold which allows for endless new types of correspondence. he describes the tableau-fenêtre of a painting being substituted by tabulation, where changing lines, numbers and characters appear.
